FAQ [update#3]

Fri Nov 20, 2009, 12:58 PM
alright me pretties, ask every single question about Equira your darling minds can ponder. it can be anything about anything Equira, the monsters, the characters, color combos, dress codes, breeding, fusions, what's for breakfast...

GOGOGO!

What is Equira?
1) A world in which humans, monsters, and natural animals coexist.

What defines a Guardian monster from a wild monster?
1) Guardians are only available by rite from the head Temple of each region instead of being found in the wild.
2) Guardians have no definite environment, and exist wherever their partner does.
3) Guardians are said to be "demi-deific" due to their unique state of living, and are known as the ancestral origins of all other wild monsters.

Can a person have more than one Guardian?
1) Technically, no. A person is given partnership to one Guardian monster only.
2) The only exception is if a person dies leaving their Guardian, that monster can choose to live with someone who already has their own.

Will Guardians work with other Guardians?
1) Like all Team matches, there can be a maximum of six individuals present per group; if one team consists of one or more Guardians, the opposing team must have the same number of Guardians present also.

Do Guardians have genders?
1) Like all other monsters, Guardians have genders or are hermaphrodites, depending on species.
2) Naturally hermaphrodite Guardians are: Sif, Nym, Hodius, and Bokks.

Can Guardians have babies?
1) Despite having genders, Guardians cannot successfully produce offspring.

Can people trade Guardians?
1) No. A person and their Guardian are bound by divine Clyr-conspired unity.

Are their any religions/cults/organizations in Equira?
1) Yes, there are multiple groups, though not all of them have been discovered or confirmed as of yet.
2) There is a small religious group called the Gamonali - they do not believe in the Clyr as their gods or the partnership between human and monster.

Can humans fight alongside their Guardian/monsters?
1) Yes, in Team matches, a group of minimum three, maximum six individuals can fight together. Any of this number can be human or monster. (There must be at least one monster and one human per Team)
2) Mounted fights involve a rider and their monster in battles against other mounted opponents.

Do people have farms/etc. where caught monsters are kept?
1) No, wild monsters return to their lives after being "caught" - a person can then summon them again at will wherever they are when they need them.
2) Wild monsters can only be "caught" once, and cannot be summoned by anyone else.

How does Fusion work?
1) The DNA of one compatible monster is combined with another compatible monster's in a "test tube" type of production. This involves no natural birth or parents, as donor monsters can be of the same sex. A person only needs to start with two different monsters, and will end up with three. (Monsters themselves are not actually fused together)

Can a Fusion monster breed or be used in Fusion?
1) Fusion monsters of the same mix can produce only one offspring.
2)Fusion monsters are not compatible of further DNA Fusion.

Is there a limit to how many monsters a person can have?
1) No, a person can catch as many wild monsters as they want to. (or are capable of)

What is a quirk about the Equira world that many people may not know?
1) There are small "hiccups" in the world that are natural to it: floating rocks, reverse waterfalls, cold fires, etc.

What is the level of technology?
1) technology varies a little throughout the world; some are more advanced where others are not. eg. wood fireplaces, swords, hot-air balloons, sailboats, steam and electric generators, etc.
2) There are no cars, airplanes, motorboats, helicopters, trains, etc.

Is there a form of magic people can use?
1) Yes, people have magic as well, and can practice to have element-based magic that rivals even powerful monsters.
2) The magic is usually referred to as "zoh" in the world's tongue.
3) Zoh occurs naturally in every human, like monsters, but to enable its use, a person must train themselves to learn to harness and use it effectively.
4) A person's zoh is based on their element; this may be the same or different to that of their Guardian should they have one. It is entirely up to the individual to discover what their element is.

What is the City Region like?
1) The City Region is broken up in territories, like other Regions. Visually, most of it could be described as a "post-apocalyptic city" where areas have been left to fall apart or have been torn down. There is very little natural vegetation growing in the Region itself, due to the highly industrial, and consequently, polluted and sunless environment. Despite its lively appearance from the air, the City Region is not as thickly populated as it appears. The village major, Geante Square, is the largest and most productive area - boasting the greatest buildings and highest population in the Region.

What is one's Status? Can it be changed?
1) This is a person's current occupation or position in life.
eg. Status: student
2) a status can be changed with a new occupation or position.
eg. student can become mentor. (deceased is also a status)

What is one's Rank?
1) The system of Ranking is based on the profession level of an individual.
2) The regular Ranks are: Cuji -> Beji -> Aaji
3) A person most graduate from their specific schooling before becoming a Cuji.

Can a person change their Rank?
1) Yes, after becoming a Cuji, a person and their Guardian can train and accomplish tasks and missions under the watch of their mentor - when deemed ready by their mentors, Cuji can compete in a yearly available tournament to compete and possibly earn their Ranking as a Beji. Beji no longer need mentors. Beji in turn can compete in a 3-year available tournament to potentially earn the highest ranking as an Aaji.

Can Guardians/monsters speak?
1) All Guardians have the ability to learn small words and string them together into short sentences or brave fully-fluent speech. This depends on the species and general intelligence of the Guardian.
2) Wild monsters do not often have the opportunity to coexist with humans on a daily basis, and do not find learning to speak easy or worthwhile; thus many do not take the time to learn speech, but instead learn meanings by verbal statements.

Are there other villages in Regions other than the capital?
1) Every Region has territories broken up by villages and towns outside of the capital. These said areas usually do not follow the same laws or ways of living as one-another. Some even resent the others and the capital itself.
2) These villages are referred to as "minor," even if a few are quite large and powerful.

What effects a monster's color?
1) It is unknown as to why some Guardians of the same species have different colors or patterns to one-another - though it has been proven that Guardians of the same type are not related, so it is not a question of heredity.
2) Wild monster's colors often come from environmental factors, like camouflage, intimidation, etc. But it's still unknown as to why some can be especially different within the same biome.
3) Offspring of monsters normally do inherit color morphs from their parents.

Do monsters all hatch from eggs or is it based on their classification?
1) Monsters are born based on their classification, though there are some oddities in a handful of them.

Are wild monsters found in areas based on their environment?
1) Yes, some monsters live only in very specific locations, where other might live in wider areas.

Where can I get the Equira font?
1) available when I can figure out how to make it submit-able...

Where does Mubi live?
1) Mubi lives in transit with his mentor.

Is Riccor's name based off of Rorschach?
1) lol no, Riccor's name was based off of a combination of "wicker" and "whore."
2)...just don't tell him that. x''D

Do monsters have movesets based on species?
1) All monsters have some form of species-unique techniques and specialties.
2) Though they all share some basic techniques, eg. biting, tackling, etc.

What are the restrictions to monsters' movesets?
1) For the general shared basic techniques, some monsters are incapable of performing some "moves" due to their species' anatomy. eg. Bokks is incapable of biting.

What are the relationships between the Elements?
1) The elements are classified in three groups: Primary, Secondary, and Supporting.
Primary elements are: Earth, Wind, Fire, Lightning, Water.
Secondary elements are: Ice, Bond, Sound.
Supporting elements are: Destroy, Frenzy.
2) Elements define the techniques of a particular monster species and those in the same elemental area. Moves based in an element, depending on its nature, will be stronger or weaker in effect verses another element of a different kind. eg. water attack would douse most fire attacks/defenses.
3) the simplistic layout of element strengths are:
Primary:
Fire > Wind > Earth > Lightning > Water (> Fire cont.)
Primary+Secondary:
Fire/Lightning > Ice > Earth/Water
Earth/Wind > Sound > Fire/Lightning
Lightning/Earth > Bond > Fire/Wind
Primary+Secondary+Supporting:
Earth/Water/Sound > Destroy > Wind/Fire/Ice/Bond
Lightning/Wind/Ice/Bond > Frenzy > Water/Earth/Sound

How do monsters learn new techniques?
1) Monsters learn techniques with experience/aging and training.

Can people influence a unique set of techniques from their monsters?
1) Occasionally, if a person where to train their monster with a certain technique more especially than others, that move will become more effective and might take on a monster's unique style.

Can new moves be created with combining existing techniques?
1) Yes, and this usually results in either very good movesets that can cover a range of opponents' weaknesses, or sometimes turns out poorly. eg. Combining a Fire and Earth technique together could result in a new Lava technique.. though combing Fire and Ice will produce nothing effective, as the elements will most likely cancel eachother out... (in rare instances, it may create a freezing fire effect) Sometimes however, even arguably opposite elements such as these can reap strange improvements: Water and Fire may produce a Boiling Water technique.
It's good to experiment!

How are wild monster's "caught"?
1) Wild monsters are found and often battled with by a person and their Guardian if they wish to form a "contract" or "right" to summon the creature later. The Ring presented to the person while given their Guardian is the device used to pull the "Wild Spirit" of the weakened wild monster out; this "spirit" is now kept in the ring should the person wish to summon the monster later, and effectively makes the individual monsters caught incapable of being captured by anyone thereafter.

Do monsters poop?
1) lol yes, they all have some form of waste. XD

Can a person have more than one Zoh?
1) Most people train the strength of one, but everyone has the potential of having two element Zoh available to them. It has been said that especially rare and gifted individuals may even house three.

Will Equira ever be a real game?
1) it'd be nice! Hopefully with more work put into it, and if it becomes successful, it just might be.

Is there a difference in power between a Guardian and a wild-based monster?
1) Guardians tend to be stronger in all base stats than most wild monsters; though a poorly-practiced Guardian may still be at odds to an experienced wild-based monster.

What is the housing like in Equira?
1) housing is very Region-specific, as the environments of each may not supply the same materials used to create accommodations and structures. eg, Desert Region buildings are usually made of mostly stone and brick, whereas Forest Region structures are wood-based.

Why is there no form of proper transportation in Equira?
1) Equira lacks some of the fueling compounds used in automatic and motorized transport, like gasoline. Equira makes most out of sail and rowboat, riding monsters, hot air balloon, wagon, etc.

Does the summoning device HAVE to be a ring?
1) The summoning device is always a ring, though some people prefer to have it on an strong chain around their neck. Having the ring on one's finger however, prevents it from ever going missing, as it can only ever be removed by the owner - whereas it being placed anywhere else inorganically could result in it being broken away or lost.

Does each monster have a specific diet?
1) Monster species each fall in the same feeding categories as regular animals; some being carnivores, herbivores, insectivores, omnivores, etc.

Do monster eat other monsters?
1) Guardians never eat other monsters.
2) Wild monsters can and will hunt other monsters.

Do people heal their injured monsters?
1) Some monsters who do not have a rapid healing process may need the aid of their partners, whether through medication and physical bandaging or Zoh energy. Most villages have a hospital that specializes in most monsters' needs in terms of health issues.

Can monsters wear clothes?
1) it is not uncommon for some monster species to be given small pieces of attire, eg. some people might have their Guardian wear a scarf/jewelry tht matches their own.

Are there monster fashion shows?
1) Though not a traditional competition in nature, there is very likely some form of "monster showing" in a handful of places.

What are some battle-status changes that occur in battle?
1) Sometimes certain effects in battles can inhibit monsters in some way or another - sometimes these are caused by species-related contact or techniques.
2) These include: poisoning, sleeping, trapping, freezing, paralysis, conversion, disorientation, burning, intimidation, etc.

Is Champion Nynde a prostitute?
1) lol no, but it's rumored she's somewhat of a nympho.

Do the people of Equira have different ethnics?
1) The people of Equira range in physical differences and "ethnic backgrounds" like people on earth. Of course, people aren't referred to as "east-indian" or "asian" really since there are no such places. But there are people who range in all of the races living in Equira - some of them are more common in certain Regions than others, but they all coexist together in all of them.
2) Racism and downcasting at different humans' appearances is nonexistent in Equira.

It's essentially a sheet that shows how Taylor (being a master of disguise, and able to blend in in any situation) dresses to fit in when he visits the other regions
(It's going to show Swamp, Sky, Desert, Sea, Grassland, and Forest)
